About me!Hi there! I'm Rowan McDonnell (they/he), a multidisciplinary creative based in the Midlands specialising in LGBTQ+ and disability representation across Theatre, TV and filmmaking
After growing up in the theatre world from the age of 3 I studied Technical Theatre Arts at Birmingham Ormiston Academy, diving into the roles behind the curtain for the first time and really fell in love with it. After I finished, I landed an 18 month BBC Apprenticeship where I worked on productions including ‘I Can Do It, You Can Too!’, ‘This Town’ and 'Phoenix Rise'. But across all of these projects there was one thing I am always fascinated by, how accessibility and representation works in the creative industries and how there is still always something to work on to ensure everyone can access the arts and see themselves. This drove me to start university at the age of 20 to study a BA British Sign Language interpreting course at the University of Wolverhampton to play my part in this amazing work. |
