Opening the Loft’s 2025 powerful season is Euripides’ Medea. Adapted by Ben Power and directed by Craig Shelton. But this isn't just yet another retelling, the Loft brings so much more:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Medea (played incredibly by Julie Ann Randell) is a mother and wife whose life crumbles beneath her after her husband Jason abandons her and their son for a much younger woman. The princess and daughter of King Corinth (Tom O’Connor). In the deep depths of her grief we don’t know how just yet but as soon as she walks into the cabin and sees the glowing photos, she stabs a particular photo with a dagger (much to the nurses shock). The women of Corinth (Rosie Pankhurst, Evelyn Ball, Elaine Freeborn, Lucy Harland, Sophie Lorraine, Amanda Owen, Anna Butcher, Sonali Gupta, Charli Harvey, Dawn Morris and Yasmin Waters) really stood out to the power they hold as a collective almost like Medea’s gospel chorus that for the majority of the play only she can see and interact with. Full of every age and experience she reaches out to them first in hope then to plot revenge for every woman who couldn’t do so before.
That is all the details you’re going to get from me, so go see Medea at the Loft Theatre Leamington which closes on the 1st February. Thank you to Kay and Ruth from the press team for allowing me to get a free ticket to see and review this amazing piece of work! Book your tickets now!
